Hat:

With Color A, cast on 100 stitches. Place stitch marker and join work. You will be working in the round. Knit first 12 rounds. Holding Color B, and 2 strands of Color C together, knit 1 round. Turn hat inside out and work remainder of the hat in the opposite direction with wrong sides facing out. Knit 3 rounds with Colors B and C held together.

Next, begin stripe pattern as follows:

Color A, Knit 2 rounds.

Colors B and C held together, Knit 1 round.

Repeat this stripe pattern until piece measures 9”. Begin Crown Shaping.

Crown Shaping:

On your first round of Color A, decrease 1 stitch every third stitch. – (33 stitches) Leaving 66 stitches on your needle.

Finish the remaining rounds of this stripe pattern with your 66 stitches.

On the first round of your next Color A, decrease 1 stitch every third stitch again – (22 stitches) leaving 44 stitches on your needle. Finish the remaining rounds of this stripe pattern.

Final round: Continuing with Colors B and C, knit 2 together in every stitch. Do not bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle thread yarn tail through each live stitch, taking it off your needle as you go. When you have them all off the needle, pull together tightly and secure.

To finish, weave in any yarn tails to the wrong side of Hat. Clip strands close.
